Will does Dallas

Spending the week living out of a hotel room with your 13 month old -

a) is a totally fun way to spend a family vacation.
-or-
b) sounds infinitely insane. Why the hell would anyone do that??

Eight days, seven nights. And just for fun, throw in a power failure that begins in the early evening and lasts well into the night.

Mike had a week-long business trip in Dallas, so Will and I decided to tag along. In the days before Mike said, "This could quite possibly be the worst trip we ever take." This was followed by (nervous?) laughter. When Will woke up on departure day with a runny nose, I anticipated the worst.

Well, if this was the WORST trip ever, than I'll gladly take it. Because truth be told, it wasn't all that bad. Even, dare I say, fun...?

Will was simply a delight on the plane, sleeping the majority of the way down and the ENTIRE way home. We kept busy with plenty of outings, took naps together, and turned in early at bedtime. It was equal parts restful and adventurous. Armed with our rental car and a GPS, Will and I tackled the streets of Dallas like we owned them. More on that later.

But, really, how does a 13 month old entertain himself in a hotel for an entire week?

Say hi to all the animals in the hotel gift shop. Because no one really cares if you rub your runny nose on a $300 toy.

Play with the hair dryer while Mommy isn't looking *wink, wink*.

Chill out with the TV.

Nap in a hotel crib. Hey - it's better than the Pack and Play. Seriously, those things are like sleeping on cardboard.

Enjoy the water fountain in the courtyard.

Our trip to Dallas was certainly one to remember. The next couple of posts will feature our numerous vacation pictures. Consider yourself warned.
