The beach

Unless you live under a rock, you know that we experienced an earthquake in Virginia yesterday.  Will and I were visiting with his buddy, Cameron, and his mom at their home.  We put the boys down for a nap, each in their own room, and about 10 minutes later, everything was shaking.

Kim and I ran upstairs in what must've been record breaking speed to grab the boys, then ran outside.  I will never forget it.  The house shaking, the loud rumbling, the windows rattling, the helpless feeling of having no idea what the hell was going on, and the desperate feeling of needing to get to my baby - and fast.

In the end, our household suffered frazzled nerves, scared animals that had to be coaxed from hiding and some slanted pictures.

Why, yes, those are pictures of Will at the beach last year.  What's that?  Oh, you'd like to see pictures of Will at the beach this year?  I think I can arrange that.

Will really loved the beach this time around.

No, really.  He did.

A picture of two things he loved: shovels and crabs.

Will loved digging in the sand.  Especially when Daddy showed him how to dig up crabs.

But now it's time to leave our beach vacation behind us and return to a world of earthquakes and hurricanes.  Sigh.
