Friday Five

Five things we did this week.

1. Art.  Will had so much fun painting on paper, that he decided to decorate his high chair too.

2. Played in some snow.  It's hard to believe since we're ending the week with 70 degrees and a tornado watch until 8 PM tonight, but we woke up Monday to a dusting of snow.  Just enough for Daddy and Will to thoroughly enjoy together.

That's their box sled.

3. Baseball.  I absolutely believe we're raising a little athlete.  He LOVES sports.

He hit the tee instead of the ball.

Chin up, Bud.  You'll get it next time.  Practice makes perfect.

4. Enjoyed a popsicle with a good friend.  Nadine and I swapped babysitting duty this week.  Will went to their house on Tuesday so I could suffer through the one hour glucose test, and Claire came to our house on Wednesday.  When I changed her diaper, Will wanted to know where her penis was.  "Oh, there it is!" he exclaimed.  Uh.... Ok, Will.

And, no, I didn't make them sit together for the sake of a cute picture.  Will wouldn't leave her alone.  See -

5. Playtime at the park.  The park is about a mile from our house, so by the time we walk there, play, and return home, I'm ready to collapse on the couch.  Will loves going to the park and we always have a good time.

Family

One of my favorite pictures of the three of us.  Will was just 10 months old.  I think I will always have this in a frame somewhere in my house.

Taken with the timer.  Not the best b & w conversion, but OH, how I love this picture.

Hello, third trimester

How'd you get here so fast?
Photobucket

28 weeks already.  Time is flying.  I've gained more weight than I care to share and Baby is a flurry of activity.  Exciting times.

I think often of my pregnancy with Will.  I was still teaching for the first half and was 18 weeks along when summer break began.  I spent my mornings watching 'Bringing Home Baby,' running errands, walking the dog.  I took a nap every day around 2 and spent my afternoons happily painting pictures for the nursery while waiting on Mike to get home.  All the while completely oblivious to the impending premature birth of my baby boy.

Things are slightly different this go 'round.  For starters, this is the perfect time of year to be pregnant.  No summer heat, not a bit of swelling.  I'm extremely active because, well, Will wouldn't have it any other way.  Because this winter has been so mild, we walk to the neighborhood park a lot and spend lots of time outside.  I'm achey in my lower back by the end of the day, but overall, I feel really good.

I wonder if it will be different this time.  Like, maybe instead of crying over my preemie's incubator, I'll still be pregnant at 33 weeks?  The doctors can't tell me anything for sure.  At my 28 week growth scan yesterday, the perinatologist told me to just enjoy what's left of this pregnancy.  I will certainly try.

Everything looks great and Baby is still a girl.  By the way, she definitely has a name.  To be revealed after she is born.
Photobucket
Here's a hint.  There's an 'e' in her name.

Thanks to friends who have generously given us hand-me-downs, and those that have already gifted us with some things, Baby Girl's wardrobe is stocked.  At least for the first 6 months.

Pink clothes! Gah, I'm so excited!

Her room is still a disaster, but the ideas are in motion and it will soon come together.  Hopefully Baby will give us just a bit longer to get everything ready.

Operation Evacuation has yet to be determined.  I am hopeful (oh-so-hopeful) for a VBAC, but the plan is to schedule a c-section on my due date incase that doesn't happen.  In any event, we will have our sweet girl in our arms by May 14th.

Isn't she lovely?

Disney on Ice

The thought of driving in DC terrifies me, but the only thing that scares me more is having to do the Metro.  For my sweet boy, I'd do just about anything, so yesterday it was into the city we went.  I rocked it.

I really want these last few weeks with Will as my one and only to be special.  He's my buddy and I'm so worried about how things are soon going to change for him.

When I first heard that Disney on Ice was coming to town, I talked with Mike about it.  He wasn't interested in coming along, so I bought some tickets for Will and me to see a weekday morning show.

Will sits 5 rows from the ice 'cause he's a baller.

Yep. Got a new sword.

Will was totally loving the first half, at one point trying to sing along with a song he doesn't even know the words to.  By the second half he was slightly antsy, but luckily the special effects kept him entertained.  Maybe it was 15 minutes too long for him...?  Either way, it was so great to be there with him.
Photobucket

Surprise!  Since Grandma works in the city, she met us for lunch after the show.  Will loved seeing her.  All in all, a pretty nice Thursday.

Valentine's 2012

Who has two thumbs and loves Valentine's Day?

This guy.  Right here.
Photobucket

An awesome thing about having kids is that they force you to make the most of these little holidays and actually enjoy them.  Making these sweet memories for Will is so damn important to me.

The morning started with a couple treats.
Photobucket

Will was beyond thrilled to get these Kisses.  He kept repeating, "Oh my goodness!"

Our breakfast conversation -

Me: Will, Valentine's Day is all about love.  Who do you love?
Will: Mommy.
Me: Who else do you love?
Will: Daddy.
Me: Who else do you love?
Will: Chewie.
Me: Who else do you love?
Will: Ellie.
Me: Who else do you love?
Will: Chewie.
Me: Do you love Grandma?
Will: Yes.
Mike: Do you love your baby sister?
Will: No.

Yes, love was in the air, and images of Valentine's Day took over the house.

Come on!  It's a strawberry heart.  You see it.  Right?

A feet heart!

Soon to be three!

Mike surprised Will (and me) with a special gift he picked out just for the little monkey: Whack a Mole!  Yeah, this game is just Will's style.

Love, love, love.

Gym class

Will and I spent the better part of this week in bed.  Sick.  Will watched 'boobies' (that would be MOVIES) while I dozed off and on (cause I've been soooooooooooo tired on top of not feeling well - fun times).  It was cozy, albeit slightly boring.

Yesterday we made a triumphant come back and went to gym class.  We go twice a week and Will loves it.

Whenever Mike asks Will what he did in gym class that day, he responds, "I play toys...  Parachute."  And basically that's all there is to it.  The majority of their time is spent free-playing.  Then the teacher breaks out the big parachute and does a structured activity with songs and a felt board.  Sometimes Will participates in the activity and sometimes he doesn't.  It's whatever.
Photobucket
But, really, I think Will's favorite part is the hand stamp at the end.  Will always asks for one on his tummy (sometimes he wants stamps on his feet, too) and his teacher is very accomodating of these odd requests.

Personally, my favorite part of gym class was running into my old high school boyfriend's sister.  Oh, really, your brother is now a doctor living in Hawaii?  That's cool.  I guess.

And having some place to go twice a week with my active toddler is nice, too.

As for last weekend's tough loss....  we're hanging in there.  One day at a time, you know?  There's always next year.

We're ready!

It's Super Bowl Sunday!  But surely you knew that already.

Mike refused to get in the picture, telling me I would probably photoshop a Pats shirt on him.  He knows me so well.
