A big boy goes to the Insect Zoo

I'm still here. And still pregnant. Lately I've been feeling especially tired, and Will hasn't been all that helpful in this regard as he's refused 4 naptimes in the last week and a half. But when he does decide to sleep, it's wonderful. IMG_0586
I could not wake him this day.  Getting sleepy time pictures of him never happens!

The big boy got even bigger this week with the purchase of his 'big boy chair.' Sitting at the table took some convincing, but now, he's very proud of himself. IMG_0637

Yesterday the big boy and and I went to a local insect zoo. He gets pretty excited about the bugs he sees outside (or scared if it's a bumble bee), so I thought he'd enjoy it. Plus it's only 2 bucks a person. IMG_0597 IMG_0592 IMG_0601

He had no interest in these hissing cockroaches at the touch table. IMG_0600 IMG_0607

They had an activity room that Will enjoyed playing in. He's a fan of puzzles. IMG_0615 IMG_0624 IMG_0626

All in all it was two bucks well spent. I bought Will a bug box from the gift shop for collecting bugs in the backyard. It has already been put to good use. IMG_0627

I wonder how many days like this we have left.

Just my little buddy and me.

Today we went to the beach. Photobucket Photobucket

Will was beyond thrilled. We took a quick trip to Walmart beforehand to return some Elmo water shoes (because according to Will: "Those not good shoes.").  He enthusiastically shouted, "I go to beach!"  and the fact that the cashier couldn't even muster a smile in response did not deter his excitement.

The beach!

It was the perfect day. The sun was warm, but not hot. Except for the occasional fisherman, we were totally alone. Will played and I got to sit in my beach chair (and hoisting myself up out of it was especially fun). Photobucket
"Cover feet, Mommy."

After a little over an hour Will said he was ready to go home. And that was that. Photobucket

Big brother in training

Yesterday Will went to a sibling class at the hospital.

Some things you might have overheard had you been sitting next to us:

"Baby have boobs!"
*counting* "11 toes!"
"Where penis?  There it is!"
"I have sticker!"
*upon seeing an illustration in his sibling coloring book* "That Mike!"
"Will, be soft and gentle."
"Honey, we don't squish [insert baby sister's name here]'s head."
"Don't pull the baby's arm out."
"Do you want ice cream?  Then get up off the floor."

Don't let this sweet baby kiss fool you.  Dude isn't allowed in a room alone with Baby Sister until they're both in double digits.

So after a 15 minute movie that Will was thrilled about having to watch...

the kids got to wear cool masks and hats for a tour of the post-partum wing.

There were no babies in the nursery, but the kids had fun pressing the buttons on one of the hospital beds.  I'm sure I'll be glad he learned that cool trick in the coming weeks.

After some diapering and swaddling practice, class was dismissed.

Then it was time for ice cream.

Thank goodness baby cones are still free because Will is essentially 'all done' after two bites.

4 more weeks (maybe less)!

Easter weekend

We saw the Easter Bunny three times, did a couple egg hunts, and, frankly, I think Will was starting to get bored with it all.  Luckily, I managed to stretch Easter out for one final weekend of activities.

On Saturday we dyed Easter eggs.  It was Will's first time and, I have to ask, why do parents do this?  Will spilled all the cups multiple times, which resulted in numerous re-fills, two rolls of paper towels, and some tears.  He got pink dye all over the chair cushion and his new shoes.  Is this typically how it goes?

That said, the pictures below depict holiday cheer, so perhaps I should leave it at that.

Let me not even fake like we won't be doing this again next year.  Because we so will.

Earlier in the day, I reminded Will that the Easter Bunny was coming to his house that night.  He asked, "Easter Bunny sit on couch?"  Um, maybe?

We left out some carrots.

Me: Do you want to eat a carrot?
Will: I lick it.
Photobucket

Will: Yuck! I don't like carrots.

Will awoke the next morning to find a new scooter (a "roller skate"), some bubble gear, and a few pieces of candy.

After the excitement wore off, he was ready to find some Easter eggs.  Eggs, that, unfortunately, had been sitting out in the sun for longer than the Easter Bunny originally anticipated (ie. "This melted, Mommy").  Oops.

We spent the whole day outside.  Grandma came down with even more Easter treats.  We ate a ham dinner.  Mike set up a TV so he could watch the Master's out on the deck.  We Skyped with family that we wish we could've spent the day with.  It was a good Easter.

Bubbles!

A pink tree in the front yard

I don't know how many springs we will welcome in this home, but I will enjoy each one I get to spend with this tree.  As Will would say, "Mommy like pink."  And he's right.  I like pink.Photobucket
