Moments

Moments. Our days are full of them.

There's the Holy s#$%, she's in the swing already! moment.  IMG_4249

Two evenings ago, I spontaneously decided we should have a dinner picnic at the park. We ate and watched Will ride his bike, then we tried Amelia out in the swing. She was all smiles for Daddy until I came around with the camera. IMG_4286
There's also the My husband looks like a cast member of Teen Mom moment.  Seriously, it's no wonder he was carded when we went to see Superbad.

Little does she know I managed to catch a glimpse of crinkle eye. IMG_4292

Stinker.
IMG_4293

There's the Why did I spend 15 minutes lugging the easel outside and setting up the paints, for him to be 'all done' after just two minutes? moment.IMG_4272
Tongue!

Then, because I didn't learn my lesson, I spent 15 minutes cleaning out and setting up the water table. Only for Will to be 'all done' after two minutes. IMG_4278
Which was still plenty of time for him to completely soak himself.

There's the Wait - is she about to roll over??!? moment.
IMG_4295 IMG_4306
She's so close!

There's the He threw the worst temper tantrum ever this morning so I feel extra mushy when I see him snuggling with his kitty and blanky moment.    IMG_4314

Until Will made it quite clear that there would be no more pictures. IMG_4317
For those who are curious, he got all tantrum-y when I tried to take him to the park. The. Park.

There's the OHMYGOODNESS they're going to be 3!!!! moment.
IMG_4347
Will at the park this morning. He told me, "I no cry today. I very happy." Sigh.

Last, but not least, we have the Amelia may be crying, and the lighting may not be great, but I'm going to get any picture I can of the two of them together moment.IMG_4324

And Amelia must've known how important it was to me, so she stopped crying for just a second.

An early birthday gift

Over the course of several weeks now, I've been asking Will what he wants for his birthday.  He has maintained that he wants a bike.  The description has changed: a big bike, a blue bike, a red bike, a Bob the Builder bike, etc.

We weren't quite sure if he was ready, so Mike took him to some stores to let him try them out.  Apparently he did well, so it was decided that Will would get a bike for his birthday.  In fact, he'd get it a month early. IMG_4230

bike

We're still working out the kinks.  Sometimes he forgets how to use the brakes.   Sometimes he goes way too fast.  Sometimes he's more interested in making sure everyone's watching him, that he forgets to look where he's going.

IMG_4232

But, really, he's doing so great.  I honestly can't believe that he's riding a real bike already.

When you're three months old

Hey, Amelia, how many months are you? IMG_4192

Like, whoa! My baby is a genius. IMG_4193

Life is pretty good when you're three months old.

You practice sitting up with the Boppy. IMG_4165

You have a morning visit with your boyfriend. IMG_4176-2
Baby Mason is 10 days older. And about 6 pounds heavier.
  IMG_4173IMG_4183-2

You wear your first pair of jeans for a dinner date with Mommy's friends. IMG_4197

And, last but not least, you make a promise to drink from an expensive boob bottle so Mommy no longer needs to tote you along to dinner dates with her friends.

Happy Birthday to you, We live in a zoo.

It's true. We do live in a zoo. During the evening hours it seems we can't get these little animals fed and in bed fast enough.

 But they're so cute, I can't stand it. IMG_3998
Yes, Amelia was crying her eyes out while this picture was taken.

Amelia's newest trick is the feet grab.  I'm slightly surprised that it's happening already since it caused Will some trouble.  She reaches for them every time she's on her back.  But I don't suspect she'll be rolling any time soon since tummy time is still such a disaster.IMG_4002

She's also taken to growling.  Little Animal. IMG_4009 amelia

Mike's birthday weekend kicked off on Saturday. Amelia took a nice nap after an exhausting trip to a consignment sale with me.  It always feels a bit like a vacation when there's only one child to tend to while the other is sleeping. I loved that Will got some undivided time with both his parents. IMG_4048 IMG_4030

Fabulous weather on Saturday evening begged for ice cream cones on the deck.  Or, maybe it was just a bribe to get him off the bike at Sports Authority.IMG_4054 IMG_4060

Sunday was Mike's birthday.IMG_4097

Will is totally in to birthdays now and he enjoyed doing all the prep work with me. For instance, he insisted we buy these hats. IMG_4091

And he picked Yo Gabba Gabba as the party theme.  He was very excited to play his first cheesy party game. IMG_4071 IMG_4075 IMG_4080

Grandma and Amelia took their turn together. IMG_4082

As part of Mike's birthday gift from Will, I did this fill-in-the-blank activity with him earlier in the week. IMG_4096

Stealing my favorite blogger's idea, I took Will to the dollar store to choose his own gift for Mike. He selected a set of 4 mini basketballs, a pink car clip for sunglasses, and this card-- IMG_4099
Because "Daddy like butterflies."

IMG_4109

This cutie was so interested in being part of the festivities, she refused a nap all day. IMG_4114 IMG_4123

At last it was time for birthday cake. Grandma made Will his own so he could have candles to blow out. IMG_4130
Grandma is making Will wait til our song is done to blow out the candles.

Meanwhile, Mike requested a 'custom ice cream cake' from me. I was confused for a time, until he explained that he just wanted some Ben and Jerry's in a pre-made Oreo pie crust with Cool Whip on top. IMG_4132
Sleepy baby wanted no part of this.

IMG_4139

Will ate, like, none of this. Seriously, where did this child come from??!? IMG_4144

Happy 32nd year to my wonderful Mikey. May it contain health, happiness, and good beer.

Because staying out past bedtime is so worth it. Part 2.

Continuing our summer tradition of going to the county fair, this year we went to the largest one in Virginia. Yahoooooooo!
IMG_3913

Miss Amelia had a brief nap in her stroller and spent the rest of the evening checking everything out.  I think she liked all the movement and lights.IMG_3910
Check out those thighs! Scrumptious.

These kinds of things are always so damn expensive, yet so worth the memories.  Besides, things like braces and savings accounts are more like 'wants.'  Amiright?

Will had access to unlimited 'spinny rides' thanks to his magical paper bracelet.
IMG_3869
The race car ride was  his fave.

IMG_3885

Mike and I thought we'd attach one of the bracelets as loosely as possible so we could trade it back and forth to ride with Will. But, apparently the carnies are on to this kind of trickery because the man insisted he put them on for us.  Bah.IMG_3875

I love this picture of Mike riding amongst all the children on this mini-coaster.  Gets me every time.IMG_3899

Mike trying to convince Will that the Tilt a Whirl is going to rock his 2 (almost 3!) year old world...IMG_3940

The only thing that would've made this night more amazing was if I had better hair for this picture.  And maybe a funnel cake.  I opted for the cotton candy and later wished I would've put more thought into it.IMG_3959

There's always next year... IMG_3923 IMG_3950
