And then Will was three.

Today my sweet boy turned three. IMG_4961

It's a fact that's still rather hard for me to wrap my mind around. This little boy, born weighing 4 pounds, 9 ounces. So small, so fragile.

There is nothing small about him now. He has a personality that's larger than life. In fact, my new copy of "Raising your Strong Willed Child" sits on the table waiting to be read.

Today we gave Will a choice between spending the morning at the bounce house or Chuck E Cheese's. He chose the bounce house. IMG_4970

Me: Will, I have a special birthday button for you to wear today!
Will: It red!
Me: Yes, isn't it cool?
Will: Red my favorite! It have LeQueen (Lightening McQueen) on it!
Me: Yeah! You want to wear it?
Will: No thanks.

We enjoyed lunch at the Japanese Steak House. Perhaps steak for lunch is rather fancy for a three year old's celebration, but it was fun all the same. IMG_4985 IMG_4992
After Mike paid the $40+ check, Will asked, "Where the pizza?"

This evening we had our friends over for Will's big birthday party.  Can you guess the theme?   IMG_5001

After the initial excitement of a Cars party wore off, Will began to insist that he didn't want a birthday party. "I want to be by myself," he kept telling me. Yeah, part of that whole strong willed thing. I wasn't sure what to expect, but Little Monkey had a great time. As did we.

It was bittersweet to celebrate Will turning three today. I hope he enjoyed himself. I love him so.

Feeling kinda Sunday

Last week we started a fun little Sunday tradition of setting up the TV outside and watching the games on the deck. We enjoy the fall weather, eat a ton, and have a good time.

My mommy loves me and Tom Brady. Yep. September2012013

In lieu of a nap, I gave Will the opportunity to lay in our bed and watch a show. September2012002

I returned to check on him and discovered that all of our newly folded clean clothes had been dumped out of the hamper and on to the floor.  When I questioned Will, he told me he had to build a sand castle with our clothes.

Silly, Will!

Will was in a very lovey mood yesterday, which, sadly, is quite rare these days. September2012038 September2012063 September2012068 September2012082

A fire and s'mores (and a Patriots loss - boo) rounded out our football Sunday. September2012099 September2012087 September2012054

4 months old

Last Friday, Miss Amelia Jane turned four months. IMG_4702-2_zps46e23f01

Since she decided not to nap all day, I felt it was fair to force her into a photo shoot to mark the occasion.IMG_4715-3_zpsfba50d39

Amelia is such a sweet baby. She tags along on school runs, errands, and park outings with very little complaining.  And she smiles all the time.

At the doctor's yesterday she weighed in at 14 pounds, 14 ounces. Still in the higher percentile (75th), but her growth has definitely slowed. In fact, she only weighs 14 oz. more than Will did at his 4 month visit, yet she started off at twice his size. IMG_4724-3_zpsdb12fbb6

Still no progress on Operation Bottle. Which, I suppose, means that I will not be in Baltimore this Sunday to watch my Patriots. Such a bummer.

Amelia now sleeps in her crib, rolls over, and seems to like her jumper. While she gives us plenty of smiles, she makes me work hard for baby laughs. She likes to growl and squeal.

She also likes to do sit ups. I think she may have the best baby abs on the block. IMG_4735_zps18306780

Lately she doesn't want me to put her down and I must carry her everywhere I go. This gets a little tricky with her older brother's frequent trips to the potty. IMG_4745_zps6884e7a2

And right about now she's wishing she would've taken that nap... IMG_4755_zps2d12dd4f

We love you, Little Miss! Can't to see what this month has in store! IMG_4713-3_zpsfac73e78

Why is it so hard to get a decent picture of these two together? IMG_4795 IMG_4796 IMG_4800 IMG_4804

As good as it gets, I suppose. IMG_4798

This week

My little butterfly took his wings and flew off to school this week. IMG_4465

There were no tears (from either of us). I had to chase after him for a goodbye kiss and, just like that, he became my even bigger boy. On both days, his teacher checked off the 'cheerful' box, which is a perfect word to describe him (most of the time). There's been some talk of moving him to the next class up. I have some apprehensions, but, for the most part, I'm ready to let him soar. I'm so very proud of him.

We've gone to the park every afternoon because, with weather this gorgeous, what else should one do?    IMG_4656

Amelia thinks the big kids are so cool.  If only she thought sleeping through the night was cool.  Yeah, she doesn't do that anymore. IMG_4663
Yes, Becky. She's wearing the dress again. But it's my favorite, OK?

The many faces of Amelia

Amelia-1 amelia2-1

This post takes the place of one detailing our many adventures at the amusement park yesterday because someone, who shall remain nameless, forgot to put the SD card back in the camera. Ok, it was me.

Will the big boy.

Will is not a baby anymore. He is my big-almost-three-year-old boy and is doing all kinds of big boy things.

Potty training is in the hiz-ouse! I really tried to be one of those 'he'll go when he's ready' sort of moms, but last weekend I reached my breaking point and finally gave Will the nudge he so desperately needed. I'm sure it helps that I'm shamelessly bribing him with dollar toys and candy.

 And look--

He's doing so great! *knocking on the biggest piece of wood ever* I told him, "I'm so proud of you!" To which he responded, "I'm proud of you, too." Awwwww.

Will said he wants Dora undies, which, sadly, they don't make for little boys. While Mike is extremely fair-minded and rarely bats an eye when he comes home to Will sporting red toes and eye shadow, I'm afraid finding his boy in panties might be too much to handle. IMG_4440

I previously said we would hold off on preschool because of Will's late birthday (and the fact that he's not potty trained. yet.), but I decided to sign him up for a 'Morning Out' program to get him used to rules, routine, and being away from home (without me!). Starting next week, he'll go on Tuesdays and Thursdays for three hours each day.

Some fake first day of school pictures. We actually went for a meet and greet with his teacher. IMG_4447

And, OH, how he cried when it was time to go. Dude is very excited about school. Or, maybe he's just excited for the many bins of toys that he will hoard and not want to share. It's sure to be a fun time. Good luck, Ms. Linda! IMG_4446

Today Will paid his first visit to the dentist. We went to a pediatric dentist (for obvious reasons), and he did great! The hygienist consulted with me before his exam and told me no pictures were allowed. Boo.

She said, "You can take pictures in the waiting room, though. Not that you'd want to." Oh, Girlfriend, you don't even know... IMG_4458 IMG_4460 IMG_4456 IMG_4462

Will had so much fun at the dentist, he cried when it was time to leave!
